Itinerary

1st day: Arrival to Oulu Airport where you meet your guide. Transport to Syöte, just beside the Syöte national park, Transport time is approximately 2 hours. Evening meal and accommodation in villas. Sauna and shower available.

2nd day: Breakfast at the villa. Program briefing together in one group in villas living room. To have a nice and safe adventure we’ll have basic info to learn how to manage in the arctic conditions in Finland: Effects of the cold weather, protecting from the cold, action in cold conditions, wind chill effect, clothing and safety instructions for the week.

Snowshoeing trip starts to the one of the snowy hills in our area. Teerivaara in Syöte national park gives us open views to lakes and forests below and around the hills. Behind snow covered candle trees we find our lunch place and enjoy it by the open fire. After lunch we continue walking through snow covered old spruce forest to the highest point of the trip and walk to Annintupa wilderness hut. After short snack and drink break we drop ourselves to a parking place where transport to cabins are waiting for us. Dinner, sauna and relaxation. (Hiking distance approximately 8 km in 7 hours including breaks)

3rd day: After breakfast we start our second trekking day to Naamankajärvi area.  Approximately 20 minutes transport by car. Your guide takes you to fells and ridges between the lakes. Few kilometers snowshoeing in very typical old forest views. Rest and snack in forest. Delicious picnic lunch is served by the open fire at Huuhkanen wooden shelter. Walking back, dinner and feedback in villas. Hot sauna and refreshing shower are available. (Hiking distance approximately 8 km in 7 hours including breaks)

4th day: After a breakfast we drive to northern part of Syöte nature park quite deep to Lapland side of the park. Northern part near Kouva village is the biggest untouched area in South Lapland and one of the most important area to do research for forest and wilderness. We walk in the primeval forest and head to a small ponds, large ice covered bogs and higher eskers until we come to the highest point of the area, called Virsuvaara area; Gorgeous landscape and very beautiful moment during our hiking holiday! We  continue on the hills and come down from the side of the ridge. Lunch at the wilderness hut. After lunch we follow the variable terrain back to car. Dinner, sauna and good night sleep. (Hiking distance approximately 10 km in 8 hours including breaks)

5th day: After breakfast transfer to Kaunislampi (Beautiful pond) area from where we start our Snow Wonderland tour from. Kaunislampi path, which we follow is partly quite demanding. There is steep slopes with thick snow, variable terrain with ups and downs. The view and the atmosphere is worth of struggling! In one part of the track, we should be very careful because of high rock cliffs where is a danger to fall down. Mostly the path goes between white trees, beside frozen lakes and beautiful eskers. First part of the trip goes downhill and after a while we climb a bit to reach the beautiful views over snow white forests and ice covered lakes. We’ll have a soup lunch and sandwiches from the backpack in Kaunislampi wilderness hut and after having a nice picnic lunch we are ready to continue back to the car. Transport back to the villas (40 minutes), dinner and sauna. (Hiking distance approximately 8 km in 7 hours including breaks)

6th day: Departure. Breakfast and transfer to the airport.
