LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY IN NORWAY - FACTS, AND ITINERARY

You travel with a hiking and photography guide to different destinations by car. The guide is a professional nature photographer and knows the best spots for beautiful shooting in the area.

To get to different destinations, we must walk along paths and hike on the tops of the fells and hills and to the rivers and lakes. Daily distances are about 1-8 km. You also have to carry your own photography equipment, your daily drinks, and other equipment in your rucksack.

We accommodate on the Norwegian farm in two-person rooms. Your guide takes care of meals, so you only have enough drinks and snacks in your backpack for the day trips. Sometimes we may take a soup lunch with us in the soup thermos.

We talk and learn a lot, for example about the northern species, light, photographers' position, equipment, composition, and technical issues. One of the most valuable activities is to learn new skills from other participants.

One of the most important parts of the schedule is the showtime for you at the end of the week. In this part, you can introduce your best shots of the workshop with a projector on the big screen and tell your stories from your perspective.

ITINERARY

1st day, Sun.:
Arrive at Troms Airport, where you meet your guide. Transport to Svensby farm in the Lyngen area by car with low emissions. Transport time is approximately 1,5 hours.

In Svensby, the Solheim Fritidsgård-farm is a wonderful, authentic Farm accommodation near the fjord shore. House works for us as a base camp for this unforgettable photography adventure. There is homemade dinner waiting for us on the table with different local delicacies every day. Program briefing on the first evening. To have a nice and safe adventure, we'll have basic info about clothing, accommodation and some instructions for the week. Evening meal in the dining room and accommodation in rooms. Shower, maybe a dip into the cool sea! Welcome to enjoy your photographing holiday!

2nd day, Mon.: Blåisvatnet (Blåvatnet), Aspevatnet. Lakes, river, pond, colors, arctic plants
Breakfast in the dining room. The trip will take us to a wonderful blue-colored wilderness lake which gives us a lot of ideas to photograph.  After a short 15 minutes drive to the parking (Blåvatnet trail head), starting point of the trail. Slow and peaceful hiking on the partly stony path like in the fantasy movies, to the shore of the lake and a fireplace. Photographing & picnic lunch by an open fire. Visit to smaller but beautiful Aspevatnet pond. Hiking back to the car, relaxing, photo editing time. Photographing continues near the cabin. Enjoying the evening lights on the sea shore. Shower, dinner and accommodation in the cabin. Possibility to photograph the magnificent Northern Lights in the evening.

3rd day, Tue.: Lyngstuva. Landscape, seascape, black and white photography, minimalism, sea, sunset.
After breakfast, we start the excursion by transport by car to Lyngstuva, in the northernmost part of the Lyngen area.  The route to Lyngstuva takes road no. 314. We drive the road through Nord-Lenangen until we reach the end of the road and park it in the meadow in Russelvi (Ruoššajohka). First, the path runs along the seashore. It is a gravel road at the beginning but then turns into a path. The last section goes around a small hill before arriving at the lighthouse. Hiking in sea views, 6 km, 100m above sea level. 5-6 hours trip, 4 hours hiking. Picnic lunch. Drive back to base camp. Outdoor Barbeque snack by the open fire at the Kota, Lapland tepee. Dinner and shower.

4th day, Wed.: Barheia fell-top views, fjord, forest, horizon, clouds

Breakfast at the base camp. Making a picnic lunch from the breakfast table and after that only few minutes transport to Barheia. Easy climbing through the forest to the top of the fell. There are no rocks, the path is pretty steady and it's not slippery. Photographing the mountain tops around, horizon, clouds, old forest, fjord, and sea from the top. Hike and transport back to the farm. In the evening visit to local museum close to the farm. Night visions and Northern lights. Shower, dinner, accommodation.

5th day, Thu.: Gorsa, gorge, canyon, waterfall, river, flowing water element
Early breakfast at the accommodation place. 2,5 hours transport by car to Gorsabrua. Gorsa is the deepest canyon in Northern Europe. A solid bridge has been built over it, which is not suitable for those afraid of high places because the canyon is no less than 150 meters deep. The roaring waterfall next to the bridge is impressive, as is the whole place. Gorsa Canyon is definitely one of the must-visit destinations in Northern Norway. The walk from the parking lot to the canyon is only 1.8 kilometers. The hike is quite easy, although one might imagine otherwise based on the wildness of the route's destination. The route is mainly a sandy path lined with fell birches. Picnic lunch during the tour. Transport back to the base camp. Shower, dinner, accommodation.

6th day, Fri.: Cultural photography and evening for resting

After breakfast, we start the excursion by transport by car to the North, and visit Nesset Lenangsøyra which is an interesting viewpoint of the Arctic Ocean. Short break at the Selnes chapel, a local small church on the fjord side. After a short drive, we come to Innereidet, the churchyard, and the cemetery with a beautiful mountain view. Transport back to the base camp. Lunch, dinner, accommodation.

7th day, Sat.: Processing and demonstration day

Breakfast. Showtime for your best shots of the workshop! At the end of the workshop, we collect together all the wonderful memories, process them together on the computer and make a presentation of the images. Celebration dinner in the evening.

8th day, Sun.: Departure day
Departure day. Breakfast and transfer to the Troms Airport.

We reserve all the rights to change the activities' order or the program's content due to the weather or other conditions.
